XXXII IAU General Assembly 2024 Satellite Viewing Centre Heidelberg

Haus der Astronomie is a Satellite Viewing Centre of the XXXII General Assembly of the International Astronomical Union, taking place hybrid 6-15 August 2024 in Cape Town, South Africa and online.

Haus der Astronomie invites researchers, students and the public to attend the XXXII General Assembly of the International Astronomical Union, taking place hybrid 6-15 August 2024 in Cape Town, South Africa and online. HdA serves as a Satellite Viewing Centre, which allows interactive participation in the plenaries and selected parallel sessions from HdA‘s Auditorium and seminar rooms via Zoom. We also encourage in-person discussions among the participants in Heidelberg.

The programme of the GA includes the six IAU Symposia 389 Gravitational Wave Astrophysics, 390 A Multi-Point view of the Sun: Advances in Solar Observations and in Space Weather Understanding, 391 The first chapters of our cosmic history with JWST, 392 Neutral hydrogen in and around galaxies in the SKA era, 393 Planetary Science and Exoplanets in the Era of James Webb Space Telescope and 394 All-inclusive AGN, as well as the twelve Focus Meetings Harnessing ground-based optical telescopes: an opportunity for emerging astronomy in Africa, A Coherent View of Atomic and Molecular Gas from Infrared to Radio Wavelengths, Follow-up observations of small bodies in the Solar System in the era of large discovery surveys, Bridging the final stages of massive stars to supernovae and transients, The future of radio astronomy in an increasingly crowded spectrum, History of Astronomy in South Africa: The Late Modern Period, New Horizons at the interface between Computational Astrophysics and Big Data, Advances and Challenges in Understanding the Solar and Stellar Dynamos, Measures of luminous and dark matter in galaxies across time, Teaching capacity of remote observing facilities for the Universities and High Schools, Multi-wavelength Astrometry, The High-Energy Gamma-ray Universe: Results and perspectives with wide-field ground-based facilities, as well as six Working Group Meetings, the Division Days and the Institutional Meetings of the IAU Offices.

A registration is not required to participate in the GA Satellite Event, however, we ask you to check out the detailed programme of the GA and vote below for the parallel sessions you would like to attend at least one day in advance. Due to limited capacity, only up to three sessions can be transmitted in parallel. The selected sessions and rooms where the sessions will take place will be announced in the HdA each day.
